Admiration Remains, Feelings Change

da0

Of course, people are going to speculate about a site, about an artist, about a fan.

For those wondering or worrying, please note: I have no intentions of shutting this site down. There are just too many good gems that I’ve written in the past six years to suddenly make inaccessible, and also too many good memories of David and being a fan of David.

I just have no plans to produce future content.

Unless David suddenly surprises me with a new song or album or musical event that sucks me right back in.

Until then, I’m just not on the same obsessive plane over the Voice that used to sustain me and this blog.

It happens. In real life or in fantasy, sometimes you just fall out of love with your idol (or simply, your bright shining light bulb sometimes grows dimmer).

There is no bitterness on my part, no dashed hopes. I’ve always felt that David Archuleta could have shone much brighter and could have had a place on the world stage. However, he himself tasted a bit of stardom, didn’t care for it, and now he’s content to live and make music under the radar and within the insular circle of his LDS faith.

He is still a phenomenal singer, but he has obviously retreated, and those of us who don’t relate, we simply move on, like David has moved on.

I don’t regret waiting and hoping for David’s return to a high-profile music career after his two-year mission. But there have been other Soul David fans who left the fanbase the minute he left for Chile. They knew things were going to change, and they chose to move on.

Some of us just took a little longer to do the same.

At some point, the individual has to believe in his potential, has to WANT something bigger for himself, no matter how much others (like his dad) or his super fans proclaim over and over that he is destined for greatness.

He needs to believe it himself. And it is not a betrayal of humility to want greatness.  His own parents, according to his memoir Chords of Strength, urged David to “not hide his light under a bushel.”

Right now, David is shining his light in places that make him comfortable. Good for him! I’m shining my own light in other places.

This ride on the Archubus was great while it lasted. I bought all his CDs, his book, his Christmas DVD, paid VIP prices for his concerts. He was a pleasure to hear live, and his Voice will always be glorious.

However, that Voice no longer speaks to me, and I’m okay with that.  He’s not a malicious person, nor do I believe he would reject black female fans like myself (as someone had suggested just because he’s Mormon – like, really?!).

People change, and feelings change. We’ve just drifted apart, and the fact that I’m okay with that – rather than falling apart into a million pieces – is the biggest clue to me that, whatever journey we were on as fan-and-artist, the passion is gone.

Sure, some folks will chalk that up to who was a “real” fan versus who wasn’t. Think what you will.  Because if I don’t care about David’s career anymore, I’m certainly not losing sleep over other people’s opinions (baseless or otherwise).

Kudos to those of you whose passion for David still burns bright.

  1. Am I reading the right?
    Where did they all go?

  2. david need to just quit the music business please!

i think david is wasting fans time not say anything about his music world!!!

  3. Here’s the thing I’ll never understand about David. He didn’t post the link on his Instagram account. He seems to have a different set of fans there and definitely gets a good number of likes. I tweeted the guys and Gina Orr and Nathan responded that they were “working on it”. What is there to work on? Just do it. I’m beginning to think Nathan was talking about David. lol

    • He probably was. Lol. David is t too swift with things like this. He never really was. Things were done for him. Plus he has said that he isn’t too good at promoting himself. I just wish things were different. He has so much to offer the world.

      • I keep hoping things will change, but I just don’t see how he’s going to make it long term. No radio presence, no TV appearances, no engaging of fans and unwillingness to promote himself. Let’s see if he even sends a reminder to purchase that package or the single on iTunes.

And not for nuthin’, the only “extras”, or however they put it, my preorder has unlocked is a still picture. lol WTH. Sometimes I really can’t with this guy. And I’m still wondering if he REALLY does want to do this.

      • Astrid, that’s the million dollar question, does he still want to do this.

  4. Since David left Jive his career has been done on the fly, let’s throw something at a wall and see what sticks. So he didn’t work on his career for two years and came back and wanted to do things differently, so silly me, I thought great maybe he will get a great team to help him with his career and finally have a great game plan and have the kind of professional career that he deserves. LOL, well David completely changed as far as his career and interaction with his fans go, but his career seems to still be handled on the fly, so somethings haven’t changed, but that was the one thing that I thought needed to be changed, lol,What the heck is going on with his career, who knows.

  5. Not.one. thin. dime. should be spent to download and support this stale rehashed attempted cash grab from David… aren’t you all tired of The Prayer?? The SAME OLD SONGS trotted out – now in acoustic!! Bout 6 years late I say. The same old bush league amateur marketing, or lack thereof. Aren’t you just plain old TIRED of waiting around for…. nothing? It’s obvious David holds NON LDS fans in contempt. Why would anyone continue supporting someone who is going to keep feeding you the same old garbage but tries to dress it up like caviar? He ain’t the one brainwashed… it’s all of you.

    • Hey X, charming post by you. You obviously haven’t moved on or we wouldn’t be reading your whiny rant about why David is some diabolical thief who preys upon women who fantasize about a young handsome realty show singer, only to have him dump them after he’s made enough of their money to devote his life to his real love, the LDS Church.

Enlightenment is a bitch sometimes, and David’s enlightenment is right in your face. David doesn’t hold non -LDS fans in contempt. Everyone is invited to his enlightenment party as long as they respect who he is NOW. That pretty much let’s you and your SD buddies out.

David isn’t the has-been. The has-beens are the ones who can’t accept him as he is and can’t quit him no matter who or what he is. Roll call, Soul Davidians?

  6. what the point on david...

if david want to make a comeback on his music since back from mission than he need to step up and do it, the way he showing it now, it like he doesnt even care about it if he gonna act like that he should quit, how i see it.

  7. BoB, do you really have to constantly hit us all over the head with this Silence is deafening thing? It’s not an uncommon phrase you know and it’s very boring having to read the same old thing all the time.

Astrid, we get the extra bonuses that go with the prayer, all at the same time. That’s why you haven’t received anything yet.

    • Ahh. Ok, thanks. I take back my mean comment then. Haha

    • What a surprise. So this is your primary concern?

“BoB, do you really have to constantly hit us all over the head with this Silence is deafening thing?”

      Yes

“It’s not an uncommon phrase you know”

It IS an uncommon phrase, especially when it’s used in reference to a website you despise, but continue to visit frequently, to talk to people you despise. The phrase is only used in this sense by Blisskasden so I’d be very careful with using it if I was you.

The same applies to “us”. It’s only used in this way by Blisskasden, even though he’s only talking for himself. Not to mention “the regulars”.

“…it’s very boring having to read the same old thing all the time.”

If “we” don’t like it, we can always take our own advice and skip the “utter nonsense” and “fluff”.

“Astrid, we get the extra bonuses that go with the prayer, all at the same time. That’s why you haven’t received anything yet.”

Thanks for the educational section of your comment. Divide and conquer, punish and educate.

SILENCE OF THE REGULARS, a best-selling thriller by Blisskasden, now also a movie.

  8. David sure is saving money with this “approach” to his music career. He really can’t be paying Gina and Kari much as he doesn’t do many high profile appearances or a tour. There is no record label, no real top notch music management, and no PR. No good producers and songwriters to help him produce good quality secular music. I guess you get what you pay for. How is he even investing any money in his career at this point? David has a very local LDS career. Doesn’t appear to be changing to me. I don’t think the music industry has any interest in a local LDS music artist. He has no needed connections. Not to mention the majority of his fans from AI are not interested. Including me. That is just the way it is. If some people here can’t handle the truth than that is too bad. 🙂

  9. I was kind of curious to see what this whole profect of ‘a savior is born’ was about because the way to get David’s music was somehow connected to this profect, but was told that wasn’t the case. Well, I goggled it and sure enough it is totally a commerical for the LDS church including pop up to the BOM. As far as a local LDS career for David, again I was told that there weren’t any because they wouldn’t be paid, lol, but I think that David will change that…he is to valuable to the church right now.

    • Worst David Site Ever

If you “goggled” info that brought you to this conclusion, your anti-religion bias is showing again and you need to get new goggles. Looks to me like the LDS Church facilitates posting the series about Christmas (y’know, that important Christian holiday observance?), but the artist video today features Peter Hollens who is not LDS.

Advice: You hate it? Don’t go there.

      • Thanks for this invaluable piece of “enlightenment”.

Advice: You hate it? Don’t come here. In any shape or form.

I can see that you’ve gone form “deafening silence” to things like “y’know”. Something between these two extremes might be more credible.

    • lol, thanks for your loving observation of my comment and yes, I do understand that it’s a Christian holiday, but, the bible and any other ‘Christian books popped up as a lick to get the story of Jesus birth, only the BOM, so why wouldn’t I think it’s an ad for the that one church..
Btw, why on earth do you lurk here when you clearly might see as unworthy and horrible people, oh expect for bliss, or are you bliss, lol.

  10. I think it’s great that David has made it clear that he’s an LDS artist. It clearly makes him happy.

Worst Bliss Ever attacked CQ for saying that “A Savior Is Born” is an LDS campaign. Here’s the rundown.

Dec 1: Jenny Oaks Baker, LDS
Dec 2: Ellie + Jared, LDS
    Dec 3: Gardiner Sister, LDS
    Dec 4: Lexi Walker, LDS
    Dec 5: Alex Boye, LDS
    Dec 6: Tiffany Alvord, LDS
    Dec 7: Lindsey Stirling, LDS
    Dec 8: Stuart Edge, LDS
    Dec 9: Peter Hollens…

Oh, wait.. PETER HOLLENS IS NOT LDS. HOW CAN ANYONE CLAIM THAT THIS IS AN LDS CAMPAING? IT’S JUST THE LDS CHURCH “FACILITATING” A SERIES ABOUT CHRISTMAS AS A CHRISTIAN HOLIDAY!

    • Worst David Site Ever

I am not Bliss. I know big words too.

Why don’t you go Christmas shopping? Buy yourself some good will toward men.

      • Only Bliss will use the only non-LDS artist (one out of nine) as proof that this is not an LDS campaign and only Bliss will attack and ridicule someone based on that “information”.

      • “If you “goggled” info that brought you to this conclusion, your anti-religion bias is showing again and you need to get new goggles.”

It is this type of “good will” you’re talking about?

      • Worst David Site Ever

So, are you saying that YOU are the good will expert? Funny.

      • “So, are you saying that YOU are the good will expert? Funny.”

Not at all, Worst Bliss Ever, you asked me to buy myself some good will toward men.

      • Worst David Site Ever

Hope you kept the receipt. You qualify for a refund.

      • Advice: comebacks should make at least some sense.

      • Worst David Site Ever

And now you’re the expert at making sense too? Could have fooled me

      • No, Mr. Legit Poster, you are.

  11. So looking forward to the next incarnation.

    • B.O.B, you can do all the lame “You did it too” posting that you want, but the truth is all there in B/W. You can re-post any or all of my tweets to control your damage, but I assure you that my arsenal is locked and loaded, and it ain’t pretty.

If you cease and desist your insidious campaign to ruin this site I will be more than happy to return to posting what HG claims she wants, which are posts designed to “celebrate the artistry of David Archuleta”

It’s your move, girlfriend. Let’s see how much respect you really have for HG.

  12. So what we have now is that ANYONE who comes on here to challenge any anti-David , anti LDS post must be me using multiple names. This is part of the campaign to limit the challengers to one person, making it seem that only one “troll” (me) is interrupting the “intelligent conversation” that goes on here by those who are “keeping it real”.

I find it noteworthy that CCHalo, who loves calling me a troll at every opportunity is suddenly absent from this site, when B.O.B fits the dictionary definition of troll to a T. Are you B.O.B, CChalo? You love to stalk the internet to discredit LDS . It wouldn’t be much of a stretch to stalk my twitter timeline to do the same with me.

Calling legit other posters Blisskasden is also her way of getting these people disgusted enough with the site to no longer post here, because, as B.o.B has posted, the only reason she posts here is to “get Bliss’ because she “hates me”.

HG knows this is going on and endorses this behavior by doing nothing about it. Don’t think for a minute that HG is “too busy” and does not monitor her own site. She could even be B.O.B her damn self.

    • Perfect timing.

“So what we have now is that ANYONE who comes on here to challenge any anti-David , anti LDS post must be me using multiple names.”

No, only your sock puppets. You’re not “challenging any anti-David, anti LDS posts”, you attack the poster and are too much in love with yourself to even check the most basic facts. You should’ve thought about this before ACCUSING EVERYONE AND THEIR COUSIN OF USING MULTIPLE SCREEN NAMES WHILE USING MULTIPLE SCREEN NAMES YOURSELF.

“Are you B.O.B, CChalo? You love to stalk the internet to discredit LDS.”

I’m not CChalo. I’ve no problem with David being an LDS artist. It clearly makes him happy. You, on the other hand, seem to have a problem with David being an LDS artist. “A Savior Is Born” is an LDS campaign, nothing wrong with that. It’s IDIOTIC to claim otherwise and attack and ridicule someone because PETER FREAKING HOLLENS IS NOT AN LDS ARTIST, only the other eight of the nine are.

“Calling legit other posters Blisskasden is also her way of getting these people disgusted enough with the site to no longer post here, because, as B.o.B has posted, the only reason she posts here is to “get Bliss’ because she “hates me”.”

Not trying to get anyone do anything, just doing exactly what you have been doing for months. Must be “a whole new day” again. Just yesterday you said you would have this “puppy” shut down.

      • “HG knows this is going on and endorses this behavior by doing nothing about it. Don’t think for a minute that HG is “too busy” and does not monitor her own site. She could even be B.O.B her damn self.”

Unlike everyone else here, including myself, HG actually has a life. There actually are people who are not interested bickering about a former American Idol contestant online.

      • B.O.B, you say this “Unlike everyone else here, including myself, HG actually has a life”.

Really? did HG “actually have a life” when she posted this for the world to read back in 2008, when David was a 17 year old adolescent:

” So I was dreaming I was on a Caribbean island staying in a really nice pleasant room, perhaps in a hotel, instead of visiting relatives like I usually do. I decided to take a nap, and next thing you know, I see David Archuleta in my room. He’s all pleasant, then all of a sudden, he starts seducing me, climbing onto my bed and trying to get on top of me.”

      • I don’t know anything about HG’s life in 2008. Must have been around the same time that you voted “Sexxyyyyy!” on “What is your favorite side of David Archuleta?” and “David Archuleta” on “Who is your cute boyfriend singer?”
