Happy Halloween!

It’s that time of the year to fall back, get a little darker with the season, and anticipate the Christmas holidays.

That said, I’m taking an official break from Soul Davidian since I need to think through how I feel about David and his current direction and what is the meaning of this blog.

That plus I have yet more upcoming projects that need taking care of.

Happy Trick-or-Treatin’ today!

  1. Thank heaven. It’s not the Soul Davidian it should be. Thank you for rethinking. Take care.

  2. Happy Halloween to you Hg! 🎃 I guess I’ve know this was coming for a while, but really was hoping that it wouldn’t happen, lol. I totally understand your decision, I appreciate you leaving the comments open for us that want to say goodbye to you and other posters. I do hope that David’s direction will be of a secular nature and that I will enjoy his new music, he is a great talent, that will never change no matter what direction he takes his career.
I want to thank you for allowing me all these years to come here and chat, express fustration, saying what wonderful talent I think David is, etc and yes, at times being critical of what he is doing with his oh promising career. I had a blast!!!!
To all that post here, thank you for the conversation, it’s been so much fun.
Being that I still find David’s musical journey still interesting, I will be lurking on other site and of course, if I feel compelled to do, comment too. Although other sites seem to be very low on comments and low on numbers of different fans too. All the Mods do a great job of putting up new threads, but who knows how long those will last.
lol, interesting do you come here every day and pray that you get that message from Hg.
If I don’t like a site, it’s very simple don’t visit the site…oh, I guess you and other, namely bliss are celebrating the victory.

    • cq- No victory for bliss because I am sure most did not even pay attention to his comments or agree with them. I know I didn’t. lol. 🙂 It is not about him at all. The issue is really the direction of David’s career.

    • Yes, Hope I know that’s the issue with Hg, although I’m sure he will feel differently. Real nice to have kept a conversation with you.

  3. happy halloween and goodbye everyone! thanks for the fun HG! maybe one of us can start a new david blog/website. see you guys on twitter!! 🙂

  4. Happy Halloween hg and everyone. 🙂 I don’t blame you a bit hg for wanting to take a break. The current direction of David’s career is sure not as a secular music artist. Wish him well but I just have no interest. I do hope that his church and his religious fans buy his music and support him. Also to those that think this site changed that is just not true. David changed. He went from that talented young musical artist talent on AI in 2008 that looked as though he had a promising career as a pop music artist to his wanting a career as a local LDS music artist . I miss that David that from 2008 AI and I know he had to change and grow but I just don’t like the direction his music career is headed. If he will even have one. David never really returned from his religious mission to me. David changed and he forgot about those die hard loyal fans that supported him from when he was on AI in 2008. I stopped caring about his career a very long time ago. I just enjoyed this blog-SD. Again I do wish David well. 🙂

    • I pretty much agree with everything you said Hope so thanks for saving me all that typing. I have to say I will miss Bliss’ bluster though. It was fun imagining his face getting all red and steam coming out his ears.

  5. It’s too bad this site is going away. Although we didn’t always agree, at least you could come here and voice your frustrations about the direction David has taken his career. Yes I know it is his career and we were just along for the ride, but it used to be fun. David did change, and I don’t mean he grew up, I mean he needs to take that stick out of his ass. Why someone who is close to him has not told him he should be thanking those who hung around and waited for him instead of ignoring his fans I don’t know. I mean Kari gets asked all the time if and when David will come east or release new music. They seem closer than most artists and tour managers. He may want to do it his own way and not go by someone else’s timeline but he still needs people who are waiting for and will be willing to buy his music. Right now I wonder how many are even left.

  6. I would miss this site also if it closes down. It has been great to converse with fans here over the years. It was great to meet you, HG, a few years ago in person. We were both academics at that time, although I escaped and to the other part of the world, haha.

  7. Here’s what HG said when she opened this blog in 2009:

“Since I’ve exhausted myself waiting for Jive to take David’s artistry seriously……I thought I’d create yet another blog [and] invite you to participate in this alternative dialogue. And rediscover his “Soul” – the “Shop Around” David, the “Heaven” David, who wants his listeners to “understand” him when he sings.

And since I like debates and don’t shy away from the tough subjects – like politics, race, sexuality, culture wars, and the like – I hope we can explore all these forces and what they mean when we contemplate David’s artistry…. I personally would like to dig deeper beneath that superficial facade since I’ve caught a glimpse and know there’s more to the “Soul” of David Archuleta.”

Despite many people trying to police the dialogue and force this into a cookie-cutter squeeing fan site, many of us have tried to stay true to the gauntlet she threw down and explore “behind the scenes.” I’m still very interested in those topics, especially because of my own faith journey, but to me, Soul David has disappeared behind Missionary David. He’s still an immensely talented, well-meaning, fascinating person, but I can relate to the need to let go after almost 4 years.

Perhaps when the album comes out there will be some real topics to chew on, but in the meantime, the trickle trickle of his career has discouraged all but a tiny minority of the old-time fans. I guess we have a week to say good by…..

    • Oh man cchalo, thank you for bringing that blog over to this last thread, couldn’t be any clearer as to what type of blog this site was create for. One thing that is so funny to me is all the fans that come to this site to just say how horrible it is and of course, now all the one that have that issue are going to gloat with fact that it’s closing. lol.

    • Yes, cchalo, a week to converse…lol, you know I will be here, at least I do hope Hg gives it the week.

  8. I had some time this morning so I was skimming thru FOD to see if there was anything interesting. I found some pics of David in a cap that he seems to be wearing lately. I was struck by how much he resembles Jeff with the cap on. People have always said he looks like Lupe, but I don’t think so. I think as he gets older he is going be the spitting image of Jeff.

  9. o man there is a god

  10. I created a blog that I’d like to invite you all to come visit whenever this site is offline. I’ve really enjoyed lurking here over the years and would hate for the community that was built to get displaced. I see this new blog as a place to continue the conversation.

The site is very simple to start us off but I’m open to suggestions on how to improve it. I may fiddle around with the appearance and design over the next few weeks too. For now it’s just an open forum.

All topics and opinions are welcome but but the one thing I ask is that discussions remain civil.

    Free Thinkers:

Please put the link above in your bookmarks and I look forward to seeing you guys there!

  11. I see that we are in the “swan song’ phase of Soul David, although HG was once again vague as to her intentions for the site moving forward.

The problem with the site is that instead of it being a legitimate place for people to discuss David’s career, it devolved into a sort of “complaint department” where those who felt personally rejected or “duped” by David’s “new attitude” came to vent their angst without ever taking responsibility for their feelings. It was an endless torrent of posts about how David had stopped honoring his end of some imaginary bargain with his fans to resume his career and life as if the Mission never happened.

Another problem is that HG never enforced her own rules, and let anarchy reign on her site. The rules are clearly posted, and read:

“The subject of this blog is David Archuleta. No topic is off limits, but always be respectful of both David and each other. Any comments containing personal attacks WILL be deleted”.

Really? No one respected these rules and HG didn’t care that they didn’t. In fact, HG didn’t care how David was treated. “Bash away” was her policy, and if anyone comes on here to take the bashers to task, I’ll tell YOU to “hit the road”. Frankly, the only posts that HG ever took down were her 39 dreams of her and David, some of which were of the jaw dropping variety.

David is not some controversial figure deserving of in depth analysis and dissection. He’s a well mannered , sincere young man who cares about others and “walks his walk”. What he has been subjected to on this site is like executing someone for jaywalking. You would think that David was a menace to society by reading some of the diatribes posted about him here. If the site is shutting down, so be it. Maybe now some of the posters will engage in the long overdue introspection that was postponed by being able to vent on this site.

    • Maybe now you will engage in the long overdue introspection that was postponed by being able to vent on this site and realize that you can stick a fork in David’s career (and deep into you ass).

      • You just proved his point in one sentence

      • We get it: You hate David and you hate me. That’s fine. I’m in great company.

      • Here’s a little something of the “jaw dropping variety”.

“just voted ‘Sexxyyyyy!’ on ‘What is your favorite side of David Archuleta?’”

“It’s like me at Virgin Rec. Meeting David unearths feelings that have been dormant for years, and must be experienced firsthand”

“@DavidArchie You’re the friend I wish I had in High School. Have a great holiday with your family”

“@DavidArchie you are a feast for the eyes, the ears, the heart and the soul. Love you, bro.”

“@DavidArchie just may be the most worthwhile person on earth. Every second of his life enriches the human condition in one way or another”

“@DavidArchie Every day you spend on planet earth is a productive day for yourself and for your ever increasing army of fans and admirers.”

“@DavidArchie You’re quite the tamale yourself bro. No one heats up a room with good vibes like the Archuleta.”

“No matter how old you are or where you are from, @davidarchie is the person you have been looking for your whole life.”

“Unlike male fans in the U.S., the guys in The Philippines aren’t threatened by the fact that @davidarchie looks like a Greek God.”

“@DavidArchie’s heart is a bottomless pit of love, appreciation, gratitude, generosity, and friendship, with sign that says “all are welcome”

“If you meet @davidarchie, make sure all of your senses are in good working order, because they will all be taxed to their limit.”

“When @DavidArchie enters any space, he removes any toxins from the air and immediately creates a healthier, cleaner environment”

      • My post was for “How nice’, btw

      • Here’s another fork. You’re welcome. Real deep.

      • Best, I see you’re at it again, obsessing over my twitter wall. What’s your point? I have always said I thought David was handsome. So what? I’m not homophobic. I also do not express any desire to engage in sexual activity with David, nor do I want to. You sound desperate to discredit me. Why is that?

      • Not creepy at all. Anyone can see that. Perfectly healthy. No jaws dropped.

  12. Stick it in your “bottomless pit of love”.

  13. Just another reason that I don’t blame hg for thinking about ending this blog is that David has not in the past several years thanked or shown much appreciation for those dedicated fans that run his few remaining fan sites. I know twitter and other forms of the social media are now popular but still some personal gratitude would have been nice towards those that run the fan sites. He does not even bother to re tweet fans that tweet him on twitter that much. David does not seem to care about his music career. Just my 2 cents. 🙂 Thanks for bringing over those comments from hg about SD cc halo. 🙂

    • The people who run fan sites do so because it gives them pleasure to celebrate the artist they admire. If they are doing it to get recognition from the artist, then it’s not about the artist, it’s about their needs. FOD is a perfect example of a fan site run by fans who admire David as an artist and as a person. They do not need recognition from David to continue their efforts.

As for HG, I don’t know why she has a site devoted to celebrating David. She never posts and she allows those who do post to demean, belittle and insult David in every way possible. Would she be as willing to allow this hostile “free speech” if it were targeted at a person or group with whom she personally identifies?

  14. David ain’t the David he used to be, so it’s even. He hasn’t been about Soul David in a LONG time, so I applaud HG for finally reassessing the blog’s purpose.

  15. Yes Hope it is definitely a case of biting the hand that feeds you lately, or that’s what it seem like. I know David wanted to do things differently this time around. I know he didn’t want to feel pressured to do things in a certain time line , but as you say he seems so dismissive of his fans. If anyone had ever told me that David would treat his fans the way he treats them now I would have thought they were crazy. It’s not that he has matured, we all knew he wouldn’t remain the naive kid that came off American Idol, but it just seems there is a kind of arrogance in his actions. Like I have said many times fans don’t need a play by play of his day and what he is doing regarding his new music but being a fan is a two way street with an artist and he needs to improve his interaction.

    • Yes, Moelita the man he brought back is completely different. The continuing disconnection with fans…ok he does post some pictures on his Instagram, has some saying on his twitter and also facebook…but most of the time, something he says somehow is about his personal beliefs, nothing to do with his career and certainly never to do with interacting with his fans…I wish him the best and am still interested to see what this album will be like. I guess he had all the Numb videos removed, so who knows maybe..a video of him seeing Numb is in the works for release at the end of this year.

    • moelita-I agree.

  16. I believe all the Jeff stories from Idol. David never had a chance.

  17. Best of bliss – you are the one w/ problems. You’re obsessed with Bliss (as are many here). (BTW we’ve seen the Bliss quotes before, old news.)

(Too bad HG just didn’t just cut it off. It is going to get super ugly…before next friday, maybe the amount of comments will cut it off early.)

    • Yes. Of course. He’s just a fan appreciating his “Greek God”. Nothing wrong with that. Perfectly healthy.

“To answer your question, and to be very honest, I was kind of hoping that the unusual name that I had asked David to address would bring a look of recognition to his face. Although it didn’t, I was no less thrilled to have had yet another opportunity to look into his beautiful eyes, and have him look back at me.”

“Everything I have written and will write about David is inspired by David. I am never more alive than when I write about David. It would be wonderful if David knew who I was, but for me, it’s just such a pleasure that I know who he is.”

    • Not Drinking the Kool-Aid

I look forward to fans of this blog speaking their truths before the sidewalk rolls up. It’s still the only blog THAT HAS THE GUTS to discuss The Other Side of David. I predict before it’s all over, the rest of the delusional ones left in LaLa land will come around to what’s been said and discussed here. This blog and its commenters have a far more accurate take on and far higher average of getting it right when predicting how David’s career would play out. If HG closes shop, another site will open to accommodate those not drinking the kool-aid.

  18. Sad. 😦

I feel sad but not completely surprised. It’s been a long time coming. The signs have been evident for over a year now of HG’s disinterest in David’s career path. Who can blame her after all the “inclusive” events and music he’s been involved in since his return? The voice is still gloriously sublime, that fact has never been in question. But anyone who operates a fan site should for all intents and purposes be invested in the promotion of and the belief in the artist and his/her talent. Otherwise, what’s the point? HG should be commended for keeping the hope alive that David would “rediscover his soul”. Perhaps it will still happen if the right song comes along. But it’s not likely.

David is completely immersed in promoting one thing which has the most meaning to him and it’s no longer music unless it’s within the context of what’s most important to him. His passion lies in the promotion of his church and what his mission did for him. That’s where David is now. But some truths will be revealed in the coming years which may set David free to accept and be happy about who he is. I hope so for David’s sake.

The biggest CON ever perpetuated on humanity is RELIGION and the myth of a “Supreme Being” who sees-all, knows-all and controls-all.

    • “The biggest CON ever perpetuated on humanity is RELIGION and the myth of a “Supreme Being” who sees-all, knows-all and controls-all.”

Yes, and the CON continues on by the churches and their leaders who perpetuate the propaganda that only through them and their religious beliefs, whether Christian, Jewish, Muslin, etc, is salvation attainable and life everlasting possible in Heaven, or as “gods” on their “own planet”, and the cost of that salvation is a mere 10% of wages and total blind obedience in everything they teach and proclaim as truth.

And who’s to blame for the terrible state of the world… hunger, disease, greed, war? Why, another myth, “Satan” of course. And what about deadly earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados which spawn floods, fire and terrible destruction and huge losses of life? “God” uses Mother Nature’s wrath to “teach us lessons” or whatever.

  19. “Being a fan is a two way street with an artist and he needs to improve his interaction.” Respectfully, I have never subscribed to this belief. David produces a product and we have the option of buying it or not. If I purchase a ticket to one of his concerts, I expect to get my $40 worth of entertainment, but when its over, the “interaction” is done. I go home to my private life and David gets to go home to his.

David never asked anyone to create these fan sites. In fact I would bet money that he would prefer that FOD close its doors as well. He has his own website to promote his upcoming albums and concerts. Think about it. Its kind of creepy to imagine that complete strangers are thinking and talking about you every day. I’m not trying to condemn anybody who posts here or at FOD, especially considering that have have contributed to the conversations at both sites. But, again, David has never asked anybody to do this. He has said from the beginning that he just wants to sing. I think he hates being a celebrity. And I honestly believe that he would be perfectly content to make a living spending the rest of his life singing in front of small audiences. So, perhaps the reason he has never thanked anyone for the fan sites devoted to him could be that he would prefer they not exist.

Many people who have posted on Soul David and FOD believe that he could not exist without the fans who post there. But I would bet that the majority of the people who attend his concerts don’t even know that these fan sites exists or even know how to use Twitter. Most of the people I know who plan on going to a concert simply check their favorite venue to see who’s playing. And if they’re interested, they buy a few tickets. I think that those are the people David would prefer to attend his concerts.

    • Actually Mytwocents, imo, nothing could be farther from the truth with that last paragraph, all his fans that still post on fansite are minimal. The fans that comment on sites just like commenting about his career and yes, about David personally too. David in no way would have a career with just these few fans, that grated, a few adore him beyond reason, but no near numbers to make any ripple with his career.

    • Many many fans seem to know each other through social media, etc. Not a scientific fact, but only personal anecdote,a\ at the first concert I went to, I was excitedly questioned by the people next to me if I went to FOD. I was like, uh, maybe once or twice…….

The many fans who travel and sold out his St. George concerts in hours are surely not just local folks checking on their favorite venue, ha ha.

    • My2cents, You’re actually on target when you post “Many people who have posted on Soul David and FOD believe that he could not exist without the fans who post there”

We have read posts, primarily here, of fans who feel that David “duped” them into spending their hard earned cash going to many of his concerts and buying copious amounts if CDs with the notion that by doing so they were “making him popular”. These are the same people who now feel “betrayed” by David and who feel that they invested their money in an artist who now doesn’t appreciate their “sacrifice”. They feel that David “used” them by fooling them into thinking that he was a secular artist when all he really wanted to do was to make enough money off of them so he could take 2 years off to go on a Mission and then return and sing only for his Church. People have posted that very thought on this site.

David’s primary fan base is at this very minute, living their lives, not thinking of David or any other singer, and will be very happy to buy David’s new Cd and attend a concert if he comes to their city. No one “made” his career and no one can “destroy” his career. Those who think that by overspending on David’s “products” it entitles them to some personal thanking or gratitude from David are the one’s who come here to complain about David.

      • Delusional much?

“David’s primary fan base is at this very minute, living their lives, not thinking of David or any other singer, and will be very happy to buy David’s new Cd and attend a concert if he comes to their city.”

Not gonna happen. Texas, anyone? At this very minute, David has a “primary fan base” only in your dreams.

  20. I think that hg actually was interested in discussing other issues and topics here at SD besides David and his career but to be honest those posts never seemed to be of interest to others so much. I liked to discuss some other topics like other music artists and reality TV shows but again there was just not as much of an interest. Honestly I just dont find Davids career or his religion that interesting.

  21. Happy trails HG, I don’t know quite how you kept this place going for so long in light of the disinterest on both sides.
I haven’t posted here in years, but check in often.
My take is that he doesn’t want this career, but is still doing it to please others (and make a living)
This makes me sad. I see no joy there. I have a lot of friends seeing the same thing. What ever happened to that happy, pumped up joyous kid?
    What happened to BYU?
What happened to “writing songs about dating”
    What happened to random singing?
    I feel bad for him.
This doesn’t appear to be someone living one’s authentic self.
I never expected to become such a fan, but his goodness and voice reached out to me (us) or we would never be talking about him. Listening to him. Still.
BTW, I’ve seen him many times, met him many times. I know a different vibe when I see it.
    Peace out

  22. LDS is too conservative, too white, too intolerant for many of David’s non white or progressive fans. It’s hard and would be denial of the highest order for anyone to believe David doesn’t hold or espouse many of the same racist and intolerant views of his church. Nothing he has done since returning leads me to think differently. I began losing interest in him after his return when he seemed to isolate himself among his LDS constituents. Too conservative, too white, too regressive and racist an organization for me to overlook David using his talent to help support and promote their “ideals”. I don’t feel duped, I feel like my eyes have finally opened to the truth of who and what David is, and is not. I choose to no longer support him, but will always have respect for HG and other posters here who have had a place to share and voice their doubts and concerns among those afraid to voice them elsewhere.

    • Well yes and no. It’s true that the history of his church is severely racist, until 1978, and the narrative in the Book of Mormon that David loves and strongly recommends to everyone involves the good white people and the bad black people. And when people are bad, their skin turns dark and when they reform their skin turns white.

But that said, I don’t think that young Mormon people, especially David, are racists at all. Their church is growing most among the Latin and African people. Somehow they find a way to overlook, or rationalize the history and wording of their scriptures. Many are starting to take things symbolically, though the leaders still stress that it’s meant to be literal—literal gold plates, literal Book of Mormon people, literal stories such as the “Stripling Warriors” that was recently enacted during David and his mother’s performance at the Latino event.

According to some of the Mormon pop stars whose interviews I’ve read, such as Dan Reynolds (Imagine Dragons), or Tyler Glenn (Neon Trees), who has come out as gay, they were just taught to be loving and charitable in church—to be good people. The more problematic teachings are mainly troubling for those who want to go beneath the surface.

It’s really much more nuanced than you make it out to be.

  23. I see that the religious bigots and racists are getting in their last licks on this sinking ship, so i’ll do the same: Let me point out some of the garbage that passes for intelligent commentary:

1)”LDS is too conservative, too white, too intolerant for many of David’s non white or progressive fans”

What a crock, and a racist crock at that. Since when did LDS become “too white” for you? How about Harlem? Is that neighborhood “too black”? How about David’s fan base? is it “too female”? You call yourself “progressive”? That kind of talk puts you way back in time, and displays an ignorance and bigotry worthy of the KKK.

2)”It’s hard and would be denial of the highest order for anyone to believe David doesn’t hold or espouse many of the same racist and intolerant views of his church.”

More bullshit. Show me one example in 8 years when David has displayed the slightest “racist and intolerant views”. To the contrary, David has been an exemplary example of tolerance and inclusion for people of all races. Have you forgotten the moment on American Idol when David cried, on national TV, when his African American friend is eliminated from the competition? If David espoused racist beliefs, would he want his fellow LDS “racists” to see him caring about a black woman’s disappointment? You’re doing what people have been doing for years on this hate-spewing site. You’re making up lies about David to fit your personal socio-political agenda.

    3) “I choose to no longer support him, but will always have respect for HG and other posters here who have had a place to share and voice their doubts and concerns among those afraid to voice them elsewhere.”

Of course you respect HG. She has allowed this bigotry to flourish without a peep of holding anyone accountable for doing so. For all anyone knows, you’re HG herself. It’s hard to believe that HG would actually keep a site open where she never posts, especially one as “edgy and politically charged” as this one. It’s easy to hide and/or change IDs online to avoid accountability for one’s views. This site was ground zero for cowards who did that all the time.

    • The hills are alive

I see that the resident delusional idiot is getting in his last lick on this sinking ship. Please don’t draw parallels when it’s jaw-droppingly obvious that you can’t. If you want to become a social warrior, a cause other than defending white males might work better.

Not saying anything about anything is not an “exemplary example of tolerance and inclusion for people of all races”.

“Have you forgotten the moment on American Idol when David cried, on national TV, when his African American friend is eliminated from the competition?”

      Speechless.

  24. lol, going to miss this site, but one thing that I will not miss one little bit is the one sided bigotry slant from Bliss…we are all bigots but the Mormon church is perfect, David is the second coming and bliss knows everything about David and his personal feelings…it’s a shame because I actually think that, you bliss, is a fan, but with your higher than anyone else on this site attitude, defender of a David, his church, that you feel are flawless has made you a joke in a lot of peoples eyes. I do know that this will be challenged by you with numbered statement as to why is so racist and full of bigotry and do the spinning that has become your mantra. See you over at FOD, after the comments shout on this site, with your love fest and continued put down of this site, 🙂

    • CQ, i never said that LDS was “flawless”. That’s just your hyperbole being used to undermine the veracity of my post. Btw, do you think that David is a racist? I take it that you do since you aren’t challenging the contention that he is.

    • Bliss, I want to think that David isn’t a racist and I thought is has a very liberal free thinking person before this mission, now I really don’t know who he is or what he stands for outsie the confines of his church. I will say that his church has a very narrow view of human rights and feel that it uses (as do a lot of other orginaze religous groups do) it’s befiefs to justify that viewpoint that I firmly don’t agree. So with that being said being that David is a devout follower of that docrine, yes, at this time I do believe he also has that narrow view also.

  25. I wish Bliss all the misery and hate his black little gay heart can hold. May he die a long, slow, lonely death. He is despicable and has no redeeming qualities. And after he’s dead, may his beloved David baptize him by proxy into the Mormon Church. Soi let it be done.

    • Pretty harsh. Actually, as much as I dislike this bliss person, I don’t wish anyone to die over such trivial things such as disagreements about David and who he is, what he believes, what he’s doing, and so on. Besides, if what I gather from his “feelings” about David is true, bliss lives in torment every day over David. Pretty sad.

The truth is that bliss will probably miss this blog more than anyone else. This has been his personal playground. I don’t know any other male fan of David’s who is so open about his “feelings” for David, even when some of those “feelings” bordered on inappropriate, if not downright creepy, coming from a 65+ year old man. It’s been a place where as a “professional” whose job he said was “counseling” addicts, some I assume were young men, he could come and live out his fantasy as David’s defender against anyone and everyone who utters anything not in keeping with his own thoughts of David as the most perfect human being on earth.

He admonished HG for not monitoring or adhering to her own rules regarding this blog but if she had, I have no doubt she would have banned bliss. As it was, she obviously believes in allowing everyone who posts here the freedom to voice their thoughts whatever they may be, including the disparaging and disrespectful comments towards her which bliss did many times.

Yes, bliss will be the biggest loser when or if SD shuts down for good and he knows it.

Thanks HG. It’s been a great and sometimes pretty bumpy ride as a lurker and more recent, a commenter. When the light goes off here at SD, may you have great success in all your future endeavors and projects.

      Bye everyone!!

      • ITA, though I don’t think that you can expect much better from Satan. But if Satan is correct, and David posthumously baptizes bliss, he will finally get his wish that David will know his name. 🙂

  26. Yeah, Jesus and the Mormons can have Bliss’s sorry ass in life and beyond. He’s too hypocritical, ugly and two faced for us in Hell!

  27. Here’s a touching, loving, real view of what it’s like to be Mormon and different from the standard stereotype:

    • This is from a recent Equality Utah event.

      • Must ask this question since Tyler Glenn is still very much a Mormon and LDS….

Is he in a relationship or is he committed to live a celibate life as a gay Mormon as the church instructs is the only way to salvation for a LGBT Mormon. Or worse, marry a straight person and live in what the LDS church accepts, as “normal” married couple who can have & raise LDS children and live as an LDS family?

Being accepted as a LGBT member in the LDS church is not as simple as they make it seem. There’s still a stigma attached unless you are famous like Tyler. But what about the many, and there are many, non-famous Mormons who have yet to “come out” but don’t have the courage and maybe not so much in fear of their own salvation as much as being afraid of becoming outcasts or shunned within their own family.

It must be hell being a LGBT Mormon who has yet to “come out”, even in this enlightening day & age. There must be many other “famous” or well-known Mormons who lack the foresight and who could be the one encouraging voice who could deter another Mormon from taking their own life because of the way they were born.

      • ITA.

Tyler Glenn says that he’s in a relationship, but that he goes to church sometimes. Also he talks about his mother who is very faithful LDS and teaches seminary every day to the high school Mormons, but had a loving and accepting reaction to his coming out. He clearly understands how harmful it can be, as when he talked about the missionary who came out to him later committing suicide.

I think that it’s part of the dilemma of religious people who are basically good and kind, but have to somehow rationalize the nonsense they’ve been taught and still cling to. It took me forty or fifty years before I was able to rationally look at the things I’d been taught in my religious upbringing and tradition. It took overcoming a lot of fear and being in a fortunate place where I had little to lose by taking a hard look at nonsense beliefs.

Tying David into this, I think that it’s interesting how often he’ll refer to his emotions as being his guide to life, such as this recent quote from Saint-Exupery: “Here is my secret…: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” I expect that this is a really, really strong element in his attachment to the church of his mother, sisters and family.

I agree that there is probably a huge difference between being a famous gay Mormon and the average Joe.

    • Imo, people that follow the LDS church are no different than any other group, there are loving wonderful people and there are also some that might not be as wonderful. For the most part I think that devout followers of any religous are very nice people, but to me that is not the issue. Any issue I have ever addressed has not been about the people, but about the church docrine itself.

  28. HG should be so proud to have her site visited by such charming people lol. I wonder how her academic colleagues would feel knowing that she supported this sort of mouth foaming insanity on a site she created and maintained for so many years.

    #HGsilenceisdeafening

    • Santa's little helper

What a charming little threat by a charming little man.

    • Please submit these to her academic colleagues:

      • Best, you posted these yesterday. I have many more tweets celebrating David. I know you’re a very busy person doing important and fascinating work so I’d be happy to shoulder some of the work load and bring some over myself.

      • “We hid out in the Kids Department which was adjacent to the area that David was to sign and, dare we dream, sing. I haven’t been around that many coloring books and paint by numbers books since the Eisenhower administration, but it was worth it to get a good look at David.”

    • There was no threat in my post, jackass. I was speaking hypothetically. Is that too “deep” for you to grasp?

  29. Santa's little helper

You are the sole source of “mouth foaming insanity” here. Her academic colleagues would be floored by your level of idiocy.

    • Santa, that’s funny, MY academic colleagues weren’t floored. They get a big kick out of reading this site. They still can’t believe it isn’t just bad satire. They especially like all of the ingenious screen names with the sexual innuendos.

      • Santa's little helper

And I’m sure you showed YOUR personal tweets to David to YOUR academic colleagues and they were impressed and admire YOU even more than they did before.

      • Santa's little helper

Oh, wow, please show this to them:

“We hid out in the Kids Department which was adjacent to the area that David was to sign and, dare we dream, sing. I haven’t been around that many coloring books and paint by numbers books since the Eisenhower administration, but it was worth it to get a good look at David.”

  30. I ran across this from a thread posted and written by HG on Dec 20, 2011 entitled “Follow Your Heart, David”. Here are HGs words from that day:

. I can’t be mad at the guy. I just can’t! I don’t care about twitter burglers spreading rumors (that turned out to be true) or about the bellyaching that we’ve been doing on Soul David or about whether or not David gave us “false” hope (whatever that might mean). I watched that video in which he made his announcement, and I know he struggled. Deep down inside his gut, he struggled, and I’m quite convinced that, were it not for us – his fans – he would have done a regular mission two years ago, but he felt pressure to stay in the limelight (even if only under the radar) because we hungrily needed and desired The Voice in our lives. No, I just can’t be mad at David. He gave us so much of himself, and now he deserves to do what he thinks is right.”

How do all of you feel about this now? Guess what? HG knew you were “bellyaching” back then long before I ever came on here. Little did she know that it would go on non stop for 4 years and she would have to shut the site down for it to mercifully stop.

    • Santa's little helper

That’s not why she is planning to shut this site down. Then again, facts are not your forte.

  31. CC halo, in keeping with this site’s policy of bringing tweets, links, etc from other sites to this site, I found something of yours on a thread back in December 2011 called “1,000 Words”. You posted a rather lengthy recap of your VIP meeting with David. Here are some of the highlights of that encounter:

“I was determined NOT to have my photo taken with David—it would be just too embarrassing. Looking at him in the VIP galleries, I was reminded of a smiling, fully-clothed Abercrombie & Fitch model”

“My determination not to be photographed was stymied, when after my daughter’s photo, I trundled up with my arms full of our VIP bags, posters, and my huge purse. I shook David’s hand, and said, “I just wanted to say hi, but I don’t really want a picture.” He was his sweet, smiling self, and protested: “Aww, why not? Come on, come take a picture to remember this by!” My daughter chimed in, “Yes, mom, do it!” She grabbed the load out of my arms, and David clamped his arm around me so tightly, I thought maybe he was trying to keep me from running away, lol. As I backed away after the photo, I sputtered that I’d downloaded the Dapo & Friends music. He said, “I didn’t know it was out yet.” I continued to sputter: “Yes, today, and the arrangement is amazing…of Drummer Boy…LITTLE Drummer Boy, no, uh Drummer Boy, uh……” “Aw, thanks!” he said.”

I wonder when you made the transition from gushing fan woman to mocking David’s religion and belief system by posting all sorts of links and videos showing just how silly and hurtful David’s religion is and how deluded he must be to “buy into it”? Was David’s LDS affiliation a problem for you at that VIP when you could barely get the words out to say hello to David and he “clamped his arm around me so tightly”? Did it matter to you that 10% of the money you spent on that VIP was going to be tithed to LDS, the very religion you despise?

    • You clearly didn’t watch the video that I posted, if you can’t say anything even remotely relevant.

      • CChalo, I just watched the video and was quite impressed with the passion and sincerity in which Tyler Glenn shared his story. I’m sure there are many more stories like his and even more that didn’t turn out well. I am pro-gay rights and pro gay marriage. That’s not the point and never has been. The point is that David has also always been LDS and has also always been a loving, caring, accepting person. There is no evidence to the contrary, yet you have used this site to promote your anti-LDS attitudes despite being a gushing fan of this LDS young man.

Please explain how you managed the apparent contradiction in your beliefs. David is no more a Mormon today than he was on that day in 2011 when you attended that VIP. What changed for you to turn on him so profoundly?

      • Santa's little helper

“The point is that David has also always been LDS and has also always been a loving, caring, accepting person.”

David has never said anything of substance about anything, so this is your interpretation of his complete silence.

      • Santa's little helper

Blisskasden is not familiar with the concept of relevancy. He just randomly vomits words.

      • Thank you for the video. I loved it and shared it with someone I think might find it very relevant.

      • Wow, great!

      • Bliss, when did you stop beating your wife?

  32. That’s not true. By his own admission, David said he was basically inactive during Idol and touring years. A faithful practicing Mormon is quite different from someone who might have been brought up as Mormon, but doesn’t take every word of the doctrine seriously, and is able to balance their faith with their everyday lives.

I think it’s safe to say from what David has told us recently, that he is 100% devoted to the LDS church and its teachings right now and eagerly wants to promote his faith through his music. Nothing wrong with that but drawing a line in the sand like that is obviously going to alienate some people who are not a fan of the less-than-inclusive nature of this particular church, or maybe even those who just find proselytizing distasteful. Big deal.

I don’t think David is racist necessarily but I think it’s very possible that he’s homophobic and sexist. Most groups that are run by old white men tend to be that way so it’s kind of hard to escape it if you’re part of the group. David is very connected to the Latin side of his family so it makes sense to me that he embraces people of other races more easily.

None of this is to say that David isn’t a nice sweet person. One thing has really nothing to do with the other. It’s the church that has the problem and it’s up to the members to fight against those racist, sexist and homophobic attitudes that are so much a part of the culture of all organized religions. None of know with any certainty what David thinks or is like behind closed doors, which is where he’s been spending most of his time for the past 5 years.

    • I know that I will not be visiting David’s OS when SD is no longer around. Of course his OS was never interesting or well put together or creative. Just boring. Kind of like David s career at this point.. If David was doing something more interesting with his music career than I think the comment s on fan sites would have been different..

      • Outsiders think that the Mormon church is clearly homophobic and sexist (as do I), but even most of the women in the church don’t see it that way, nor do I think that David sees it that way. They have their own way of looking at things. They now accept gay people as long as they’re celibate, and they emphasize the many roles that women do have in their church, without noticing (apparently) that they are all under male leadership.

  33. Yes Anonymous if David had been doing anything career wise then at least we would have had something to discuss. I still think his decision to distance himself from his fans was a mistake. Remember that little video he did after he came back from his mission or just before he came back where he wrote ” patience ” on the chalk board? Well I think fans have shown patience and beyond. I still love his voice so I will wait for his new music. I hope for his sake that it resonates with a wider audience.

  34. Moelita, yes, I agree with you about David’s decision to distance himself from his fans was a mistake. Part of his charm was how connected he was with his fans. Lol “patience” I’m beginning to wonder patience for what. I get the idea that it takes time to create music, but dang, if he kept that connection with fans, imo, it would be so totally different atmosphere with his fansites (including this one), twitter, facebook etc..
Yep me too still love his voice and will hang around for new music…will miss this site that’s for sure, 😦

  35. What is the big deal with sending a tweet every now and then music related , and I mean his secular music, to keep fans interested and to generate some excitement? The singer that is opening for him at his up coming concerts , Gracie Schram, just tweeted she was excited for the shows. It probably took her 20 seconds or less to send that tweet . Why can’t David do this? His decision I know, but he may regret it.

    • Yes, Moelita she seems to understand the need to keep that connection and she is just a kid. Yes, it is his decision, but still it’s so confusing to me, nothing about his personal music career, but he has no problem tweeting about fans going to a Mormon site to download Glorious in Spanish, that imo is about the church not about David’s music career. I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with that tweet, but why can’t he tweets things about his own career, makes no sense to me.

      • cause David and Gracie are not on the same page she wants a regular career.

      • Yay anonymous you may be right. I know that a lot of fans that post (not so much here though, lol) are aboard with what David is doing with his career, but for me, dang really wish he would WANT to go a more secular route with his career.

      • The question that never has been answered by anyone here is why grown adults need personal communication from the singer they enjoy, and if they don’t get it, they are not interested in his music. What is that? What is that need about? I know I won’t get an honest answer to the question because no one dares admit to their neediness, but the fact that people in the ’50s and ’60s feel that they need personal contact from an artist 30 and 40 years their junior is beyond belief.

No other artist that I know of has to deal with that kind of emotional burden from people who should be supporting the artist and not the other way around.

      • Interesting bliss, you can have over the top undying love for all things David and have said some pretty provocative things about David, that’s ok for a man your age, but becuase we feel that communication would be better for David’s career, that’s creepy because we are grown adults and should behave ourselves, lol.

      • “When I play the CD now, it activates the feeling I got when we met at the Virgin Store. It’s as if I’m listening to songs sung by a personal friend. This is the magic of David. You don’t have to “become” his friend, you already are.”

  36. It is just ridiculous to even try to blame any fans of David for how they feel about the direction of his career. Or to be judgemental of them. David is the one that has chosen to make his religion his priority and not his music.

David is the one that is responsible for his career and his lack of connection to fans. That is all on David -not fans or a growing group of no longer fans.

  37. Bliss , you say you are a therapist or counselor , tell me this , if one of your patients showed the contempt you show for women of a certain age would you say it was okay? It’s not okay with me. Just where do you get off taking everyone to task on this site for comments you find disrespectful of David and then in the next breath insult women? I might be of a certain age but I am not some creepy old hag who gets her jollies by dreaming about David. I love his voice. I love his music. End of story.

    • Moelita, I call it like I see it. Disrespect is disrespect. i don’t care if your’re a man or a woman, old or young, black or white, religious or atheist, gay or straight. When I read a disrespectful post, I call that person out on it. Peter is a man and I did the same with him. As for women, they don’t get a pass because of their gender. That would be condescending and disrespectful.

      • “@davidarchie Hi David. Just finished your wonderful book. I feel that I know you so much better now. Loved it and love you.”

      • Best, You can post my tweets about David till you’re blue in the face. I could’ve blocked my twitter wall to shut you up, but I am proud of every tweet I ever wrote. You can post them all for all I care. You’ll still be the pathetic sick puppy you’ve shown yourself to be.

      • “@DavidArchie It must be hard to find the right gift for you today because YOU are the gift everyone is looking for to give.”

      • “@davidarchie is a rainmaker. Book him anywhere and the feeding frenzy for tickets will take your breath away, as will his talent.”

      • lol, wow, talking about David connecting with his fans that would be good for his career is now being disrespectful!!!

      • Bliss, maybe you truly are proud of all your tweets to and about David but if you are then you are to be pitied. I am embarrassed for you reading those tweets. It amazes me that you are unable to see the sickness in your own soul. It’s possible that I have said some things in my comments here that I regret, but if I have, I at least know enough that if I were to read them again I would no doubt be embarrassed by them. Even in my most ODD days it never would have occurred to me to tweet such things to David. He must have cringed upon reading most of them. I can’t even dislike you any more. I only feel pity for you.

      • Hit and Run, save your phony pity for yourself. In a few days, this site, along with all the haters, of which you are at the top, will be silenced forever. Not once did you ever come on to this site or FOD with any uplifting or positive post. It was all about your hatred of David and your hatred of me. Now with this site closing, you’ll be left with yourself and your hatred. No other site will tolerate your negativity so you’ll have no where to channel your feelings of foolishness that you “fell for David”. Let the countdown begin. It’s all over for the haters of David Archuleta..

      • There is only one hater here and he is only to be pitied.

      • Yes bliss how ironic that the David that you defend so much now would actually not like reading your tweets about him. He is really only interested in his religion now..so obvious.

      • I honestly don’t think there was ever a point where those kinds of over the top professions of worship, love and devotion coming from a man would not have creeped David out. David has never really liked being the focus of fans devotion anyway, even the young girls, and I just can’t imagine David ever being ok with an old man telling him “you are a feast for the eyes, the ears, the heart and the soul. . Love you, bro.” I think it probably made his skin crawl. It is beyond me how Bliss can say he’s proud of his tweets. If I had made such comments and someone posted them on another website for everyone to see, I would want to crawl in a hole and pull it in after me so I could hide. How can he not see that those were completely inappropriate.

      • Hit and Run, that’s the difference between you and me. You see the negativity and “creepiness” in things that don’t exist. None of my tweets have ever been responded to on twitter the way you and the others here responded. Part of that is because the folks on twitter know where I’m coming from and love David themselves. That’s also because the hundreds of my followers and the 1,000,000+ followers of David who read my tweets realize that I am merely expressing my genuine affection and respect for David as both an artist and a person. Some of my tweets do appear to be a bit OTT, but they only give you 140 characters, so you have to be short and sweet on twitter.

What is definitely OTT however, is your phony balony “shock and outrage” over my tweets. This, for example :

“If I had made such comments and someone posted them on another website for everyone to see, I would want to crawl in a hole and pull it in after me so I could hide. How can he not see that those were completely inappropriate.”

Had I received any negative feedback on twitter for any of my tweets, I might have deleted a tweet because my intent was being misunderstood. However, since I have never, ever received such feedback, it has not been necessary to do so.

The fact is that you are just pissed off at me for making you accountable for the nasty things you have posted about David, and as they say, “Payback’s a bitch”. If the price I have to pay for calling you out on your B.S. is some trash talking from you, it’s a small price to pay.

      • Maybe you haven’t gotten any feedback on your tweets because the readers are hoping to spare you the embarrassment of being called out on the inappropriateness of them. In other words, they are trying to spare your feelings. Something you wouldn’t know about, never having given that a consideration when responding to someone you disagree with. Your first thought is to go right for the jugular because if you disagree with a comment, it is obviously totally wrong and the offender deserves your full and total wrath, their feelings be damned. Very few people subscribe to that same attitude. If I was talking to anyone other than you, I would also be trying to spare feelings but you don’t deserve that consideration because you don’t give others that consideration.

      • Hit and Run, to this, from you, “Maybe you haven’t gotten any feedback on your tweets because the readers are hoping to spare you the embarrassment of being called out on the inappropriateness of them”, I say”

Surely you jest. Do you really believe that the entire twitterverse read my tweets and collectively decided to spare me the embarrassment of calling me out. Have you ever read twitter? Twitter makes Soul David seem like an afternoon tea party. People on twitter don’t “spare” anyone anything. I’ve seen tweets to David that were so cruel that it made me long to return here, lol.

The feedback I have received on twitter by way of responses, retweets and Favorites has been universally positive since I joined twitter in 2009, and I have received literally thousands of responses. You’re the one with the problem with those tweets, and you are using them as a last ditch weapon to retaliate against my posts to you. I get it. You have bashed David since the day you started posting here. Heck, this is the official David bashing site and almost all the posters here are on board with your feelings about him. I’m not, and I let you know it. Now you know how David must feel when admonished by total strangers online.

  38. “@davidarchie you are a feast for the eyes, the ears, the heart and the soul. . Love you, bro.

  39. “@DavidArchie If CD sales were measured in units of love for the artist, “TSOD” would be #1 on the charts.”

    • Best David Related Site Online

Even when faced with the absolute truth of his hypocrisy, delusion and overt creepiness, blisskasden continues to believe that if he says it, it makes it true. OMG, I truly hope he lied about his profession. No one should be subjected to counseling by this sick old man.

  40. Best David Related Site Online

Will miss this site where I’ve lurked for a long time and commented on and off under other names for a long time but I doubt there will be much more to discuss about David.Even the diehards are losing interest. Look at the other sites. They are basically dead or dying. His recent performances elicit comments from about a dozen fans who are residents on the other sites I am more and more doubtful the new CD will do anything. If it is highly spiritual the church may promote it to the LDS audience but other than that, nada.

HG may be doing us all a favor We can all move on together in a way. The “Heaven” and “Shop Around” David is dead and indeed according to him now, was a fake and never really existed. I didn’t sign on to support a singing missionary who cannot let his mission go. HG in rethinking things, I think most of us are too

  41. look at u people bashing each other for nothing over a 24 year old singer! grow up,look.at u!!!!!???? i hope david quit music so the whole bashing at fans against each other would STOP, it never gonna end isn’t is david really worth your time fighting over him ,when u guys have your owns lifes to worry about it not david, he got his own??!!
