David and Me

Has it been so long since I’ve seen David live?  Remember this performance when he was in the northeast performing at Northern Lights?

I had to revisit this video (please forgive the visual – silly me! – but the audio is fantastic) after hearing Justin Bieber and Usher butcher this “Chestnut Song” during the Christmas at Rockefeller tree lighting special earlier tonight. When it comes to live performances, David is definitely miles above the rest in delivering stellar vocals.

It’s a bit surreal planning to hear him live, especially as I’m doing so during a very hectic schedule this week. I am definitely looking forward to unwinding at this VIP shindig this weekend.

Is anyone else feeling the anticipation of seeing David live? How long has it been for some of you?

For me, it feels like David has become more myth than reality.  The subject of 31 dreams, 900+ blog posts, countless debates, and pretend BFF lists of the things we have in common: we both love gospel, we both love Pixar animation, we both love the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown special and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, and we both love Thai food.

The switch from imaginary friend and Internet phantom to real live performer is something I’m looking forward to with huge anticipation. It’s just mind-boggling to me that I’ve been this devoted after years of David existing below the radar, to the point where I didn’t even hesitate to buy VIP tickets AS SOON as he came around my neck of the woods (and I still have a bit of driving to do to get there) to see and hear The Voice.  In. the. Flesh.

I admire so many of you who would drive across the country or fly halfway around the world to see David.  Now has come the time when TIME and PLACE finally lined up for me to see him too, and I’m just giddy with excitement.
