Spiritual David

Since this begins Holy Week, what better way to get into a spiritual frame of mind than with David singing “Be Still My Soul”? (‘Member this one?)

  2. Oh, I remember “Be still my soul”. There was a huge buzz here in Finland when that video appeared, because the song is actually composed by a famous Finnish composer, Jean Sibelius, and the original name is “Finlandia”. The song is our national treasure, and there was, in fact, discussion about changing our National Anthem “Maamme” (means “our land”) to Finlandia, since Estonia has the same anthem as we do, and some Finns wanted a more personal one.

    Anyways, sorry to bore you with my history class, lol. But yeah, I love David singing anything, really, and I´d LOVE to play him the original Finnish hymn and hear what he thinks about it 🙂

      • Here is the original arrangement – starts off pretty heavy, because it kinda tells a story about a small country trying to fight for it´s people´s independence. The peaceful ending means that the war is over.
