Mobilizing for Charity

Considering that David is in Guatemala right now, most likely engaged in charity work, I find it fitting to highlight other famous folk who are now mobilizing on behalf of Haiti in the wake of its catastrophic earthquake.

As a fellow Caribbean-American who is  an admirer of Haitian-born novelist Edwidge Danticat, who recently received the 2009 MacArthur “genius” grant and who authored one of my favorite books, Breath, Eyes, Memory, and Wyclef, Haitian music artist and one of the original Fugees, whose relief organization for Haiti, Yele, is now taking $5 donations, I wish to highlight their efforts here.  They were both featured earlier tonight on CNN:

Please send your prayers and support to Haiti, which has not experienced this kind of disaster in over 200 years.  It’s a rare thing in the Caribbean.
