Another hot single potential: DESPERATE.  Need I say more?

  1. The Christmas album will include a duet with Charice?

I’ve enjoyed the discussions on the different fansites recently. It’s great that these issues are finally addressed. A frequently updated official website with a professionally maintained news section would solve many of the problems.

  2. Peter, just repeating my comment from the last thread. Are you hearing this as a rumor?

  3. Joymus, it was a rumor, but I checked. She tweeted (twittered?) this yesterday:

“Just done recording for @davidarchie xmas album. @davidarchie, i recorded somethin for you. You’re gonna laugh hard. LOL.”

    You can see it here:

  4. This is from FOD:

Charice to Sing On David’s Christmas Album?

    Charice tweeted. She’s pretty excited!

Here’s the deal: many songs are being worked on for the Christmas album, and who knows what songs will make the final album? Not all of them can make the album, which is typical any time an album is recorded.

All of the final tracks have not been chosen yet.

Speculation is fun! But don’t count any chickens (even Charice chickens) before they are hatched.

    —————————-

This is what I hate the most about the current situation with David’s management. Either you say something, or you don’t say anything, but this is somewhere in between: Very Reliable Source is almost saying something through an unofficial website. David needs a publicist ASAP, a professional one, not a recent graduate who only speaks and writes Textese.

Yes, speculation is fun, but endless speculation is not fun.

  5. Peter,

Some things should be openly touted when confirmed. They try to say yes and no at the same time yet here goes Charise tweeting away for the world to see. That can only be positive publicity for 2 reasons –
    1) You know how the Filipinos feel about their national singers and with David’s recent appearance – its all good.
    2) Oprah loves the heck out of Charise. You could make the jump and reason Oprah + Charise = David and Charise on Oprah Show.

  6. Shontelle tweets:

@Mhae92 i would love to do a colab with @DavidArchie for my second album. I’m working on it now 🙂 I love his voice so much….

    And then:

@DavidArchie OMG David it’s amazing! You know I got u! I’m going to call you soon (within a few days or so) about something 😉 # the same?

  7. Peter,

WOW! THAT is AMAZING. Collaboration is the ‘IN” thing right now in the industry. It would be wonderful if David can do this. R&B is in his wheelhouse.

BTW do you have a link to the Billboard story about JGroban coming on board Azoff? Heard his fans are in an uproar.

Also, have you seen David perform or gone to any of the D/D concerts this summer?

  8. Joymus,

I’ve only seen this Billboard article about Demi’s album debuting at number one. Jordin’s album is also mentioned:

    http://www.billboard.com/#/news/demi-lovato-debuts-at-no-1-on-billboard-1003998139.story

I had no idea Josh Groban was with Disney. I think it’s great that he will be managed by the same company as David.

    Haven’t seen David live yet.

  9. i’m out of town w/limited internet access. seems like sooo much has transpired this past week.

i like the idea of a david/charice duet. i guess we’ll have to wait and see if it makes the Christmas album. as for a possible duet w/shontelle, it would allow both of them to gain new fans and an opportunity for david to experiment with Caribbean-fused pop.

  10. someone just tweeted this. sounds like david will perform at a fireside tonight in tampa. “my church is having a musical thing tonight and they got david archuletta to sing b/c he’s mormon too. i can’t go but dang thats a big deal!”

if anyone’s interested, here’s a link to a groban fansite. seems like his fans really care about how he’s managed too. 🙂

  11. Desertrat,

How ironic that Josh Groban’s fans are strongly against him leaving Disney.

    🙂

  12. Desertrat – Thanks for the link. Peter, Thanks for the info.

Borrowed this quote from one of the posters –

If one is to evolve and change, various changes in producers, mgt and handling are always inevitable over the course of a career. A fresh approach for this chapter of his career can only hold wonderful things in store, as I’m sure we’re about to see come Feb/March Let’s be supportive!

And David’s “people” want to lull/post us into a false sense of security that everything’s under control, so we should not raise questions or concerns. It’s called being human.

Wonder if Josh at 28 is too old for the Disney stable?

  13. Other examples of drama:

Single ladies: Why Kelly Clarkson’s new song sounds a lot like Beyonce’s Halo

If you’ve been listening to the radio lately, it’s possible you’ve heard the soaring strains of Already Gone, the newest single off All I Ever Wanted. It’s very likely that you thought you’d heard the epic song before, albeit in a slightly different form. Kelly Clarkson collaborated with Ryan Tedder on the track, a dramatic ballad driven by a pounding heartbeat, twinkly piano and swooping strings. Unbeknownst to Clarkson, Tedder used suspiciously similar elements when he produced another recent mega-hit, Beyonce’s Halo.

    […]

“I’d never heard of a song called Halo. Her album came out when my album was already being printed. No-one’s gonna be sittin’ at home, thinking ‘Man, Ryan Tedder gave Beyonce and Kelly the same track to write to.’ No, they’re just gonna be saying I ripped someone off. I called Ryan and said, ‘I don’t understand. Why would you do that?'”

    http://www.cbc.ca/arts/music/story/2009/07/24/f-kelly-clarkson-new-album.html

  15. And the story continues (don’t know how accurate this source is):

“Well, it looks like the label, Clive Davis in particular, aren’t too happy about Kelly speaking out to the media and now they’ve threatened to pull all promotion for her latest album “All I Ever Wanted”, meaning no new music videos, performances, nothing.

“According to Perez Hilton, the threat was originally made before “Already Gone” was released, so the two compromised and allowed Kelly to perform her own acoustic, re-arranged version of the song. Well now that Kelly has opened her mouth the label are supposedly making good on their threat and there will be NO more promotion for Kelly’s new album or single.”

    http://hiphop-prophet.blogspot.com/2009/07/uh-oh-kelly-clarkson-in-hot-water-with.html

  16. Ryan Tedder has a lot of nerve giving 2 of the top female artists in the business the same track. And Clive Davis, he needs to retire yesterday. The way Clive and the label are treating Kelly, goes to show that labels can have any reason for not promoting an album or releasing a single.

I just scanned the pulse boards and Jordin Spark’s fans are worried. They believe she will be lucky if her album sells a total of 300K. Some are saying that if her album sales don’t go up, Jive may stop promoting the album and treat her next single like ALTNOY, release it w/no promotion.

On the same boards, Cook’s fans have declared him an Idol failure because he’s not a household name (like Kelly and Carrie) and his songs get limited airplay even though he was heavily promoted on Idol.

Oh well, time for me to go back to thinking about David’s career. 🙂

  17. Well, Cook’s situation is perplexing…..he got SOOO much promotion out of the gate on Idol….I mean, during the initial rounds of competition they kept mentioning him, his song was featured at the end of the Olympics opening ceremony, Saturday Night Live, etc, etc, and he’s only sold – what – 500K more albums than David, whose promotion was nowhere near as big? Hmmmm. I don’t think Cook has “buzz” or “it factor” or what have you. Still don’t understand how he became so popular Season 7, because all that frenzy seems to have died down, with the buzz now going to Adam Lambert. Meanwhile, our D just keeps on surprising people with great performances and winning over new fans. In the long run, I do think he has the most potential to really break out 🙂
