    • Of course this series is not up to the standards we are used to in the US, but being that it’s David, I am watching. I want David to have a career in music, but I would love for him to branch off and do acting also. I really see it, he does have that raw talent that could be made into something special.

  1. I’m with cq — he’s definitely still learning when it comes to acting and some of his facial expressions make me literally laugh out loud (when I’m not supposed to) but I can see something there. I’ve seen it more in the previews of what comes later in the show. I think David got exponentially more comfortable with his acting as the shoot went on. Because of that, I’d like to see him do more acting — to build on what he’s started.

I’m a big Justin Timberlake fan and when he started acting I was all, DO NOT WANT. He was so bad! omg. If you’ve seen any of his really early stuff…cringe-worthy. Look up a made for tv movie called Model Behavior lol. But, little by little his acting improved. I’m not saying he’s some Oscar-worthy actor now but if you watch his recent movies compared to the old stuff — world of difference. Of course here is the major downside for me: Justin rarely ever puts out music now. For that reason, I’m still pretty pissed that he took up acting. And I don’t love his voice even half as much as David’s.

So as much as I’d like to see David develop his acting because I see real potential there……..he better not pull a JT and stop making music and touring! I would be the saddest girl everrrrr.

    • Lol, you are so right, he better not give up music and touring.
There such a different tone to David’s voice that sets him apart from anyone else, so golden!

  3. I’m enjoying it!! Glad he gets to sing two songs at least and love all the marketing, publicity, fan devotion and the contract for a CD and Bench while he is there.

Good first experience. Admire him for taking the risk and working so hard to share with fans.

He gets more comfortable as the series proceeds and he is much more comfortable with intimacy and the topic of love than he was before he started this project. Nobody has better eye contact than David and he appears to have really enjoyed the experience which is the main thing. I’m seeing a much more confident David Archuleta.

Looking forward to a CD with several love songs and more recordings now that he is home.

To me it is all good and they love him in the Phillipines and telenova’s are a big part of their culture as it was also with his mother.

Everyone he worked with fell in love with him.

    • Yes, to all you said.

But for all the good it will do when he goes on his mission. All the buzz, the momentum will last for as long as the series airs and we here in NA have access. After that, what? A song released over time during the two years he will be gone? The reality is that we will go through two winters, two Christmas Holiday seasons, two summers, and two of his birthdays. A song released three or four times each year he’s away will be great but may be unrealistic.

I do admire fans who are still so upbeat and happy that David is going away very soon. It’s one thing to be happy for David that he is following his heart, quite another to be in denial of what it will mean & feel like when he is really gone.

My fear is that we, for all intents & purposes have lost David, not once but twice. Once to the Philippines and soon to his LDS mission. When he returns, where do you really think he will have a career to return to, here or in Asia? Too many of us are in denial but this is the way it looks to me. And it pains me more than I can say.

As for Justin Timberlake, I agree he has developed into a first rate actor. He was excellent in his last two movies. He has put music on the back-burner which is too bad, but he is a better actor than singer.

      • Time will tell. David has said that he has projects in the works for when he is back but not sure what that means.
I prefer to enjoy what we have while we have it which is so much more than i thought when he made the announcement.
I believe David following his calling and the experiences he has will give him that much more depth. No need to go through life regretting not doing something you thought you should do.

Two years starts in a month. EEEEEEEEEEks!! Serenity Prayer
Accepting what I cannot change. Changing what I can and the Wisdom to know the difference.

It will definitely be an adjustment and as of now David says he will be back to music and maybe even more acting.

I think some things are lined up already if he doesn’t change his mind but for now he sounds certain he will continues music. He certainly is more talented that many.

      • As I have voiced before here and other sites, him going away is not the big problem. The problem is the length and not being able to stay in contact with his fans. I’m a little worried about his singing career continuing after he returns, unless he has something up his sleeve that we don’t know about.

  4. I think he loves music and has always loved music and I can’t imagine that changing. I also think he knows that he should share his gift, and not only with the smaller audiences who share his religion. I believe he’ll be back. I hope he’s back with a vengeance.

I love Nandito Ako because it brings me more David at a time when I thought I’d already be dealing with his absence. He isn’t Meryl Streep but he’s good for a beginner. (Will Smith is another who is fun to watch in early and then later acting scenes.) I’m more convinced by David’s sad and angry scenes than I am of those same types of scenes from some of his costars. And the storyline is crazy but entertaining. I want to see what comes next.

Whatever else David manages to produce for us before he leaves, I’ll enjoy. When it is time to adjust, I will. We all will. And I’ll be ready for the “Welcome home, David” trending party in a couple of years. My tears will probably be pretty dramatic at that time. :)

  5. I chose “no comment yet” w/regard to David’s acting. After following him so closely for 4 yrs, I’m unable to judge his acting thru a neutral lens. Right now I’m still in a state of shock and awe, lol.

Re. Will Smith, during the first year of The Fresh Prince, you can see him moving his lips when all the other actors/actresses are speaking to him. It took him a while to become comfortable with acting.

  6. I agree that David is doing fine for a beginning actor. He’s actually better than I thought he would be. I am just enjoying Nandito Ako because David’s in it. I’m pretty shocked that he did it. Just like I was surprised when he endorsed Bench clothes and hair products. I hope that when he comes back from his mission he spends a bit of time with his family and then heads right back to Asia. He blossoms over there and makes money. That money can fund musical projects and touring for David in the U.S. Plus the fans there are so good to put everything on you tube and tweet, etc. We see more of David in the Philippines then we do when he is in the U.S.

I know it will be hard for all of us ODD fans when David does leave in a month, but we will all find other things to do with the time we spent following David. In two years I hope we see David back with more music, acting and modeling!

  7. Great Points All to KathyH, Jus’saying, Heidijoy and Cq.

We only have what we have with David regardless so of course adjustments will have to be made. Everything has been set in motion for the mission so nothing can be done except to endure the backlash of his absence with an eye to a post-mission career as he creates it. I personally love all he is doing right now and am more happy at this point than all the years of following David. Acting takes time and experience and David usually evolves over time for the better. I really hope he will consider future acting ventures. With that being said, I also wonder if he has burned his opportunity bridges here in the US.

I also see longevity in his career a la Tony Bennett or, Donny Osmond as opposed to superstardom. His singing skills are classy and timeless and if all else fails there are always Las Vegas stints to consider. Of course he will live his life in between so I am already bracing for marriage, children, etc.

  8. I seriously doubt David gonna change music for acting, but acting is fun too and can complete his artistic profile, so why not? …. of course he still a newbie in the acting aspect, but i honestly think that for a first time he’s doing well in this kind of format and production , i still can’t believe he overcome his shy personality to do this . And this make me happy, for the fans, that can’t denied we’re enjoying and for him , because the personal growing with this experience and the good and encouraging feedback on this market , and because he’s closing this chapter with a happy note, where even the ones of us , who still disappointed with him going away for two years are excited and enjoying the all last thing … better to keep this memory like last one that the last December one …. to me ….I’m don’t even interested in Christmas shows anymore , and i was a big supporter before :/

Not he’s not definitively a Justin T case, i love Tony B , but maybe like special project kind of music and not to a Donny O move at 23 please :| …i’m actually don’t like the comparisons between their career, because they’re not alike at all. ;)

If all this last cool projects gonna help him after a two years absence ? who knows :/, i have the tendency to think that will be useful in Asia market , and that this market will save his career , if he really want one in two years …. he already said in the interviews that he will be back, and i’m sure and hope for that comeback , but in what kind of mood? with what kind of goals ? ….. now in that aspect i’m pretty skeptical about a career, looks to me like he still having many issues to fill on his personal life and on his relationship with his Church that eventually can become his priority and the real reason to still holding back his professional side .
Anyway two years can be too much and a killer for his still building career, but is nothing fans can do for now, only to wish to him a nice experience and a comeback full of energy …. after all is David and David is full of surprises !! :)

    • Yep, David is always full of surprises so it’s anyone’s guess what he will do in the future. I do firmly believe that he will always do something with music because that is what he loves.

Peter Frampton did an interview on CBS Sunday morning. He had the biggest selling live album in history in the 70′s and then went down hill from there. He had an interesting statement in his interview saying “A pop star’s career is about 18 months but a musician/artist’s career is a lifetime.” I agree that pop stardom is usually very short-lived. I just hope that David can find his place in the music industry.

  9. Whatever our hopes and dreams are for David when he returns, realistically two years can bring many changes in one’s life making it all unpredictable. Even though he thinks that 2 years after AI went fast, times change and leaving at the point he is at doesn’t mean that he can just pick up where he left off. Nothing stands still and there will be changes even immediately when he leaves that will influence the direction he will go in when he returns. How easy it is to set out what we would hope for and would like to see, but there will be more changes in the directions of David’s life no matter what we think

But, we can listen to his music.

  10. I agree with you Tibi that Asia could save his career after he returns from his mission, because to be honest making it in USA is going to take time and money and a lot of perseverance from him…I think he has a better chance to make it in the Latin/Hispanic market in a short period of time but who knows what he’ll do.
If he wants to go for the American market all the way, I would recommend him to take notes from his friends of The Civil Wars. I think they worked hard step by step, touring in USA and overseas, having shows in clubs, theaters, being opening acts for bigger artists and collaborating with interesting and popular singers. It all depends on him and his team…that team is a big question mark for me.
I just hope he doesn’t become a Kirk Cameron kind of guy(he is the actor from Growing Pains that I used to watch when I was a kid) when he returns from his mission. This Kirk guy became very religious and too uptight for the showbusiness and kind of dissapear..If that happens then I don’t know.

    • I was thinking about Kirk C this days, because the all Kissing issue for some fans ….. and for David ofcourse , i just gonna say that i hope he do it and people get over and move on with that extremely mystical image of him ….. is acting and if he can’t find the comfort better to quit already …i mean even Brooke W did it :/
